News Writing Class Tour Local NPR Station

UMSL operated NPR station gave insightful inspiration to young journalism students. Jean Whately was able to connect her students with real life journalist for classroom field trip.


Students got to talk to a current mid-day radio host, Greg Munteanu, and about how got to where he is now. Munteanu as a young boy would out together radio shows on tapes. During school he was interested in biology and the idea of capturing audio of wilderness landscapes. Munteanu was able to take his childhood passions and turn them into “Audio capturing really combined my love of nature with my technical”,


From the first introduction the dynamic of team members were genuine and heart warming. NPR as organization not only, demonstrated how a company should treat their employees, but ensured it is important to hire the right people that care and provide proper journalism.
